Girl's Commissioner
This person is responsible for managing the girl's program. While this sounds like an overwhelming responsibility, many of the requirements are shared with the boys such as registration, field applications, equipment, field lining, etc. You will need to attend the monthly commissioners meetings of the NVYLL once a month, as well as be on-hand most Sundays during the season from 1pm-4pm. Beyond that, the primary job is one of organization and communication i.e. making sure we have enough coaches, making sure the practice schedules are coordinated and communicated, making sure coaches know their responsibilities to assign scorers and timekeepers, etc. I can promise we will lend a tremendous amount of help and support to the individual that agrees to help out in this capacity. At the same time, you will have the ability to step into an existing program and add your direction and vision to make it a success in your own image. I would be happy to spend time talking with anyone who is remotely interested in this position.
Field Lining Committee
-
Have the game field ready for play on game day. Goals with nets, cones at the corners, mid line and penalty box, clock and horn in team area. Balls on the end lines. For the girls a table and two chairs in the team area. Safety fence put up behind the goals. At the end of game day, remove and store goals, safety fence, cones, horn, and clock.
-
Line practice fields at the request of commissioner, or coaches. Put nets on practice goals at the beginning of the season, and remove and store nets at the end of the season.
-
The club will have additional needs with clinics, and game only Summer and Fall leagues.
Registration Coordinator
We need a registration person for every event we sponsor, Spring League, Summer Camp and League, Fall Clinic and League. This group will work with the online registration contractor, and entering non-electronic registrations. This group will check how registration was paid, and will deposit all checks with the optimist treasurer. This group will keep track of players by division, and provide data to commissioner and coaches.
Equipment and Supplies Coordinator
This committee procures all equipment, supplies, uniforms and apparel for the club. They distribute rental equipment at the beginning of the season, or sponsored program, and gather it at the end of season or program.
Girl's Coaches Coordinator
We need an individual for the girls program to make sure we have coaches at each level based on the number of applicants we receive. This is not a huge time sync, but is a vital role going into the season to make sure we are organized when it comes to coaches. George will help mentor this individual.
Team Parent Coordinator
In the past, we have had "lead volunteers". This year we would like to run with a "team parent" on every team who is responsible for assisting the coaches in making sure there is a scorekeeper and timer for each game, that someone is bringing snacks, that everyone knows where the game is, etc. The Team Parent Coordinator, will make sure they have the names of every team parent, and that they are communicating all relevant information to that individual to make sure everyone is in sync with their responsibilities.
Treasurer
This person would be responsible for keeping tracks of all incoming and outgoing transactions. While HOYL maintains the bulk of this, we need someone on the committee who understands where we are spending money, how much, and what we spent in the past, so we can make intelligent decisions about things such as equipment purchases, field upgrades, etc. NOTE - The Treasurer will not write checks or approve expenditures.
General Admin.
Prepare and distribute any flyers promoting club programs. Prepare handout material for the Winter player, coaches, and parents meeting.
Picture Coordinator
Schedule with photographer and club picture day. Schedule and notify coaches the times for pictures. Deliver pictures to each team.
Sports Writer Coordinator
This person is the liaison between the local Herndon papers and parents writing articles for their children’s team. At the request of the commissioner the coordinator may be asked to put ads in the paper on behalf of the club.
