2010 Girls’ Fall Lacrosse Program

Great Falls Lacrosse is pleased to announce a series of girls’ fall programs designed to provide a positive, rewarding lacrosse experience for all players. These programs include developmental clinics for the novice player, specialty skills clinics for the more experienced players, and a select tournament program for the advanced players.

Developmental Clinics
Great Falls Lacrosse will again have clinics for its newer and younger players. These clinics are structured to prepare novice players for the spring season by emphasizing basic stick skills as well as individual and team offensive and defensive concepts. These clinics will begin on Sunday, September 12^thand run for 8 weekends. Details and registration for the clinics will be posted on the web site later this summer.

Specialty Skills Clinics
Over the summer we will be developing a program designed to advance the skills of those girls who have lacrosse experience. This program will continue to develop fundamental stick skills, but will also focus on specific areas of the game such as taking the draw, shooting, double team defense, one-on-one defense and team offensive motion. In addition, we will seek out opportunities to schedule scrimmages with other clubs and play in fall events geared toward this skill level, such as the Frederick Stars 7v7 Fall Play Day. Our goal is to bring in guest coaches, and local high school and college players to assist with this program.

GF Select Team
In order to better serve our most advanced players, for the past few years Great Falls Lacrosse has fielded Girls’ Tournament Teams. For 2010 we have made a number of significant and exciting changes to enhance this program and elevate it to a more competitive experience.

Outstanding Coaches. In an effort to expose the players to coaching from high-quality, high school coaches and college-level players, Great Falls Lacrosse is proud to welcome former Duke University standout players Katie Laschinger, currently head coach at the Madeira School, and Courtney Fischer, as head coaches to our Red (5^th/6^th/7^th grades) and Blue (7^th & 8^th grades) select tournament teams.
Small Competitive Teams. Each select team will be limited to 16 players. Competition will be competitive for placement on one of these teams, and a full commitment to practices, tournaments and special events from each accepted player and their parents will be required.
Summer Tournaments. New this year is the participation in 2 or 3 summer (June/July 2011) tournaments.

Open tryouts for these select teams will be held the weekend of September 10^th- 12^th. This will be a competitive tryout and players who have not played in the Great Falls program will have the opportunity to tryout as well. Teams will practice one weekday evening each week.

While we are still finalizing the budget, we anticipate the costto be between $550 and $600/per player for the full fall & summer program. This fee includes all tournament entry fees, uniforms, specialty clinics, and coaching stipends. We hope you will find this select program to be as exciting as we do.
